Want a deeper and more holistic approach to your health?

The World Health Organisation supports acupuncture supports the use of acupuncture for more than 100 conditions.

Clinical research demonstrates the effectiveness of acupuncture for 46 conditions, with another 71 conditions showing mixed evidence of its efficacy.

Originating in China over 2000 years ago, acupuncture is a safe therapy that promotes natural healing of the body.

Acupuncture is performed by inserting fine, sterile pins into the skin at specific points to channel your flow of energy (Qi – pronounced ‘chee’).

The points are chosen based on your present symptoms, your entire state of health, and your previous health history.

The insertion and skilful manipulation of the needles rebalances the active and passive aspects of the body and promotes healing.

How acupuncture works hasn’t (yet) been explained by science, yet science has proven that it does work. There are countless clinical trials into acupuncture that have proven its efficacy for a host of conditions.

Multi-symptom approach

One of the most impressive things about acupuncture is that it can treat a number of conditions at the same time.

People frequently are suprised to find their digestion, mood or sleep has improved even though they have come in for pain relief treatment.

Most conditions require an initial course of six to eight sessions either once or twice a week, but this depends according to each person’s health condition.

There are two main theories about why acupuncture works.

The first involves Qi: the energy force that flows through the body. Qi travels down pathways called meridians and these can get blocked. Needles inserted into acupuncture points free up the Qi, allowing the body to heal.

The other explanation, from Western medicine, is that the needles release endorphins and other hormones, which help the body heal, and influence the nervous system to block pain pathways.

Acupuncture treatments with us might also involve moxibustion, cupping, gua sha, electro-stimulation or the application of heat lamps, depending on your body’s individual needs.

Your initial acupuncture Brisbane treatment

Because acupuncture works wholistically, a medical history will be taken during your first consultation.

This involves examining your tongue and pulse, which offer important insights into the inner workings of your body.

From there, a plan will be developed and your treatment will begin. All this may take up to 90 minutes.
